A secret waterfall in Vieux-Habitants, a hike to Cascade Paradis, after Domaine de la Grivelière, for a swim in an unusual place in Guadeloupe.

A turquoise pool with volcanic rock formations.
To reach the start of the hike, the road will leave you with an unforgettable memory: you have to reach the bottom of the valley by traversing the mountainside; and since we don't have any ice in Guadeloupe, the roads are not winding but truly vertical!
We are starting the hike at Paradis Waterfall at the bottom of the Grande-Rivière valley, one of the largest rivers in Guadeloupe.

We are in a place where old plantations blend with tropical vegetation: mango trees, cocoa trees, coffee trees, guava trees... a richness when it's fruit season!
In the heart of Guadeloupe National Park, we cross this river Grande Plaine for the first time to follow the tropical forest dotted with coffee and cocoa trees. The sun's rays illuminate the waterfall; this hike to Cascade Paradis is magical in the late morning.

A tropical immersion, for adults or families, to discover a different Guadeloupe, the Cascade Paradis is an unusual hike.

The Guadeloupe rainforest
Your guide will explain this exceptional rainforest to you. Basse-Terre is classified as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
You'll be an expert on vegetation: Did Tarzan swing on vines or roots?! and how do these large trees stand up?
You are in «Côte-sous-le-vent,» a renowned area for old coffee plantations, famous for their delicious Arabica coffee. In the afternoon, we recommend visiting the Vanibel plantation: Joël Nelson has taken over the family plantation and shares his passion, offering you a tasting of his Arabica coffee. You can also visit the Maison du Café Chaulet.
The commune of Vieux-Habitants is among the first communes inhabited by humans. On Simaho beach, excellent, inexpensive little restaurants offer Creole dishes with fresh snapper, sea bream, or tuna, or smoked chicken.
