Hiking in Saint-Martin

On this small rocky outcrop north of the Caribbean, several marked trails have appeared, marked by the ONF or the Coastal Conservatory.
We recommend always having a pair of low-top sneakers or trail shoes with you on your travels to discover nature in a different way.

The Cowards' Trail

For this hike, the "Le Sentier des Froussards" trail in Saint-Martin, we propose a loop that will take you along one of the steepest roads in SXM towards the end of the hike. We will go around The Red Rock, which has been developed into a botanical trail with a wide variety of plants and beautiful beaches.

First, head towards Anse Marcel and park on the dirt road to your right just before reaching the bay.

Continue on the tuff path, in May in SXM, you will walk through clouds of white butterflies and at the fork, follow the Sentier des Froussards (Scaredy-cat Trail). On this trail, a legend tells of pirates burying treasure!
At the next fork, the trail becomes steeper and you are heading towards the viewpoint to admire the island of Anguilla.

You then bypass Red Rock and the trail descends to your first beach.

You cross the beach to reach a cay point and a second cay beach known to surfers on the island of Saint Martin when the swell is favorable.
You arrive on the road and will surely encounter donkeys.
And you go back up the road in the direction of Anse Marcel.

This hike, depending on your departure time, can be done in either direction.
